Public Works’ main focus is to provide safe, clean, and essential services to citizens and visitors of the City of Lake Worth Beach. Public Works Administration is responsible for all supervisory and administrative duties within the Divisions incorporated under Public Works overseeing divisional budgets, schedules, personnel, equipment, and overall management. The Department’s administrative members also provide support and coordination to City staff and citizens in need of all the multi-disciplinary functions of the Department.

The Solid Waste & Recycling Division provides full-service solid waste collection to the residents of Lake Worth Beach. Unlike many providers within Palm Beach County, city residents pay a fixed yearly fee placed on the tax roll for “solid waste” services that include twice weekly automated garbage and once a week automated recycling, yard waste, and once a month bulk waste collection. The Division also provides a full spectrum of services for commercial customers including frontload container services and roll off per contract.

The Streets division works closely with Administration to provide a clean and safe community for City of Lake Worth Beach residents, businesses, visitors and City staff. The division is responsible for the overseeing and maintaining over 116 miles of paved and 27 miles of unpaved roads/alleyways. In order to maintain the community, the certified technical staff of Streets division frequently inspect, record, repair, and clean the roadways utilizing their available heavy-duty equipment.

Streets division is responsible for street-sweeping, sidewalk repairs, curb cuts and gutter as needed, pothole repairs, sign installation, stops and crosswalk paintings; and cleaning of drains before and after a major storm. The division will also inspect curb cuts, demolition sites, silt fencing, dumpster enclosures, sidewalks, and new construction.
